After months of planning and coordination with DelDOT, Wagman Heavy Civil, Delmarva Power and Norfolk Southern Railroad, on Monday April 29th Eastern Highway Specialists successfully erected six 50,000 pound Contech precast arch sections at BR1-706. This bridge is part of the I-95 and SR 896 interchange project, the existing structure that carries a Norfolk Southern rail line under I-95 is getting widened to accommodate the new ramp lanes for the interchange.
This already challenging project due to the railroad coordination, was even more complex as there were multiple overhead electric transmission lines (up to 240kV) had to be de-energized by Delmarva Power with an outage that was scheduled 6 months ago.
Another electric outage will take place the week of May 13th to set the ten arch pieces for the NB I-95 widening.
