A big day for promoting new opportunity in Wilmington & Diversity in Construction

EHS was proud to participate in two events on November 1st aimed at promoting new opportunity in North East Wilmington, and helping promote a more diverse supplier base in the Delaware construction industry. The first was the "Opportunity Symposium" hosted by Delaware State Senator Darius Brown. Senator Brown brought dozens of policy makers and business officuals to the Wilmington Riverfront to discuss stragies for new opportunity in his District, parts of which have struggled economically in the last half century with the decline of industry in Delaware.

Eastern Highway Specialists has always been firmly committed to this area, having recently moved down the street from Church St to our new facility off of Governor Printz Boulevard an effort that Senator Brown helped with through a Transportation Infastructure Investment grant to improve the public road near our new site. Company President Bob Field was happy to participate in the event and was featured on a video display:

In the afternoon, Field and Vice President Chris Magdefrau participated in the Delaware Department of Transportation sponsored DBE and Small Business Development Summit in Dover.

Vice President Chris Magdefrau was a paricipant on a panel, sharing insights on now sub-contractors can get more work with prime contractors.

Bob and Chris also took part in networking events aimed at building up greater connections for DBE firms to break into the construction market:

EHS is strongly committed to new and more equitable opportunity in Wilmington and helping to build a more diverse construction industry and looks forward to continuing to work with stakeholders to achieve these objectives.
