On Thursday, June 27th at 6:00 AM EHS received a call from a DelDOT representative telling us that there had been a major crash on I-95 and the bridge over the I-295 ramp had been severely damaged. Traffic was backed up for miles on both I-95 and I-295. He requested equipment and manpower to stabilize the bridge and remove debris and get the road back open.
There was no question about our response. It was immediate. Heavy equipment and manpower were dispatched to the site. Pictures show the precarious nature of this situation.
Due to our quick action, by 1:00 PM the situation was made safe and the road was reopened. Our crews, including one subcontractor who came immediately after our call, had worked to remove the dangerous hanging parapet and set temporary concrete barrier to protect the traveling public.
We are proud of our response to these situations.
